Safety Product Specialist - Buyer
A leading global supplier of products and services to manufacturing companies is seeking a Product Specialist - Buyer.
Job Definition: The Product Specialist - Buyer is responsible for sourcing and maintaining inventory for the main distribution center and numerous company branches.
The successful candidate will also act as the project lead in the sourcing of industrial oriented safety equipment & supply by identifying, qualifying, selecting and pursuing authorization of safety suppliers. The Product Specialist will analyze current market trends related to these safety related products and ensure marketability.
The product specialist's goal is to ensure the profitability of related safety products and continued growth. This person will be the specific safety product expert and will strategically plan marketing efforts and interact with many organizational departments and suppliers.
Interface with US branches in establishing controls to maintain correct inventory levels.
Expected to review inventory controls and purchase suggestions for main distribution center daily.
Will place internal replenishment orders to and from main distribution center & branches.
Will act as the primary buyer and contact point for the Vendor Managed Inventory initiative.
Expected to build and maintain relationships with suppliers through various means.
Will analyze and evaluate current and new suppliers regarding their safety product.
Expected to participate and lead projects regarding brands and branches.
Will interface with both inside and outside sales representatives in support of safety equipment/supply brands purchased.
Education & Experience:
Strong product knowledge of safety equipment and associated suppliers is required.
Must have at least 4-6 years’ experience within marketing, branding, product management or purchasing/sourcing in an industrial capacity.
H.S. Diploma or GED required.
An Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Science, Business Management, or Purchasing strongly preferred.
The applicant must demonstrate expertise in Microsoft Office with a heavy focus on Excel and Access.
The applicant must also possess a demonstrated ability to be an engaging and positive participant while both leading and following in a high performance team environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
The applicant must be comfortable with and have demonstrated their skilled techniques in the negotiation process.
Experience within a LEAN environment and SAP also a plus.
Salary range - $45,000 - $55,000 plus annual bonus.
