Title SAS Analyst Location Houston , TX This position supports the development, maintenance and production of long-term and short term electric load forecast. Excellent communication skills, analytical skills, programming skills (SAS, R and SQL), and operational to advanced knowledge of Excel are required. Responsibilities bull Accountable for the overall accuracy of the load forecast bull Manage monthly forecast true-up bull Ensure all assumptions and modeling are reasonable and accurate bull Provide analysis to identify true-up drivers and improve the overall forecast accuracy bull Assess the downstream impact on supply hedges from true-ups bull Develop load forecast for initial energy supply procurement and final supply position adjustment bull Perform hindsight metrics of forecast performance bull Understand the factors that influence the load across different customer segment bull Perform load validation at the product level, customer segment level, risk leg and zonal level and analyze the load variance drivers bull Develop models to assess the impact of various independent factors (weather, economic) on load forecast bull Make recommendations to improve overall forecasting capabilities bull Consistently meet quality standards and improvement goals governing Model accuracyactionability and developmentimplementation cycle time bull Interface with various databases to gather needed information for appropriate functions as well as interfacing with personnel who maintain these various systems. bull Prepare clear, and accurate documentation support for work products including program documentation and support for other inputs into any long term load forecast bull Other work assignments as assigned Education Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or Business related field required.
Master’s degree preferred. Experience Position may be filled at various levels depending on candidate qualifications such as experience and technical skills bull Minimum 2 years of work experience required preferably in forecastingmodeling. bull Minimum 2 years of data mining, data extraction and data analysis required SAS, SQL or ORACLE programming experience preferred bull Excellent modeling skills, detail oriented and able to produce accurate work products. Demonstrate ability to work with and analyze large volumes of data from several databases using PLSQL or SAS expected bull Good Analytical skills using Excel pivot tables, graphs, macros bull Two years of electric industry related experience preferred but not required bull Experience with time series modeling of electric load preferred but not required Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's) bull Advanced analyticalquantitative skills to conduct forecast variance analysis bull A high degree of initiative and capability to work independently and cross-functionally is a required aspect of this job as well as strong interpersonal communication skills bull Must be able to anticipate and stay ahead of business decisions follow-through is critical bull Must be a proven self-starter - High integrity, energy, enthusiasm, and tenacity bull Superior attention to detail in analytical assessments thrives on developing and maintaining high quality reports and assessments and considers effects of decision in upstream or downstream information flows bull Demonstrates ability and desire to master integration of model results and load forecasting datametrics bull Must manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and effectively in fast-paced, pressure environment with ability to adapt quickly to new andor changing situations without compromising integrity or quality of initiative bull Collaborative approach to issues and problems Working Conditions bull Fast-paced professional office environment bull Overtime required SAS
