SCA Engineering Technician V – (Network Administrator)
CSC, a globally and independent company, is actively seeking an SCA Engineering Technician V to help support the Applied Technology Division, Training and Logistics, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Corona Division, Readiness Assessment Department, at Norco, CA. This position requires the candidate to be U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance.
In this capacity, candidate will support as a Network Administrator for the Readiness Assessment Department to include: Material Readiness Database (MRDB), Maintenance Figure of Merit (MFOM), and Missile Assessment servers. Candidate will oversees the day-to-day operation of computer networks including hardware/software support. Monitors and maintains both classified and unclassified server(s) and network stability and availability. Operates and maintains the integrity of the data backup and restore functions. Applicant will communicates network schedule, server backup, down time, upgrades, and modifications with all involved parties. Research and recommend network and server hardware and software, assist in installation, designing, configuring, and maintaining system hardware and software; analyzes and troubleshoots the network logs and tracks the nature and resolution of problems; monitors usage to ensure security of data and access privileges.
Primary Job Activities: Implement, manage, and maintain network servers for MFOM and MRA/MRDB on both classified and unclass environment; Oversees the day-to-day operation of computer networks including hardware/software support; Monitors and maintains both classified and unclassified server(s) and network stability and availability; Operates and maintains the integrity of the data backup and restore functions; Communicates network schedule, server backup, down time, upgrades, and modifications with all involved parties; Research and recommend network and server hardware and software, assist in installation, designing, configuring, and maintaining system hardware and software; Analyzes and troubleshoots the network logs and tracks the nature and resolution of problems; monitors usage to ensure security of data and access privileges; Perform daily backups of all pre-defined critical systems for both class and unclass systems; and Provide a DoD compliant secure network environment by proactively scanning servers to verify system patch level and STIG compliance.
The Engineering Technician V performs non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project, selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts, contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work, reviews, analyzes, and integrates the technical work of others. Supervisor or professional engineer outlines objectives, requirements, and design approaches. Completed work is reviewed for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements. This incumbent may train and be assisted by lower level technicians, and performs one or a combination of the following:
a. Designs, develops, and constructs major units, devices, or equipment; conducts tests or experiments; analyzes results and redesigns or modifies equipment to improve performance; and reports results.
b. From general guidelines and specifications (e.g., size or weight requirements), develops designs for equipment without critical performance requirements that are difficult to satisfy such as engine parts, research instruments, or special purpose circuitry. Analyzes technical data to determine applicability to design problems; selects from several possible design layouts; calculates design data; and prepares layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc. May check and analyze drawings or equipment to determine adequacy of drawings and design.
c. Plans or assists in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance. Determines test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures; conducts tests using all types of instruments; analyzes and evaluates test results, and prepares reports on findings and recommendations.
2 years degree is a plus. Equipment Used/Manual Skills: Windows 2008 Server, Windows 2003 Server Operating System, Various server components to include Dell PowerEdge servers and ancillary equipment. The following certifications are required: Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA) and/or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) Server Administration Windows Server 2008; CompTia Security+. Candidate must be able to sit, stand, talk, and listen as much as 25 to 50 percent of the time, be able to lift up to 40 lbs as much as 25 percent of the time. Must be able to communicate effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
