Faculty Career Opportunities

Since its inception, The Methodist Hospital Research Institute ('TMHRI') has challenged the notion of 'by-the-book' medical research. Led by Mauro Ferrari, Ph.D., President and CEO, the Research Institute is a 440,000-square-foot research enterprise for The Methodist Hospital System in Houston, TX, and is affiliated with the Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. Our laboratories are equipped with advanced technology and facilities that include a cyclotron, pre-clinical and clinical imaging, flow cytometry and microscopy, small and large animal vivariums; and a GMP facility for nanoparticles, contrast agents, vaccines, and therapeutic molecules. Our facility is a vertically integrated state-of-the-art laboratory for translational and clinical research where translational researchers and physician scientists bring ideas to clinical applications.

The Cancer Center of Excellence at the Methodist Hospital Research Institute is seeking an outstanding scientist specialized in the area of breast cancer research for a faculty position at the Assistant level. The successful candidate should have a strong record of scientific accomplishments and proven track record of extra-mural funding to conduct an independent research program related to breast cancer. A strong desire to perform high quality of research and a willingness to collaborate across departmental or center boundaries is essential. This position will provide generous packages to establish an independent research program, including laboratory space, equipment and access to contemporary facilities or cores.

Minimum 2 years of faculty research in the area of breast cancer.

Applicants MUST apply online. In addition, applicants should also send a CV and bibliography, a description of current and future research interests (no more than two pages), three representative reprints, and the names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses of three references (in one complete PDF file) to Jim Freed, Administrator for the Cancer Center of Excellence at jfreed2@tmhs.org .
