We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Security Officer to work with our Physical Security team at our facility in La Jolla/Torrey Pines.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for guarding, patrolling, and security of assigned areas to protect property and personnel for General Atomics.
Reads and comprehends published station orders and applicable special orders to carry out routine security patrols and work with other security officers to monitor activities in high security areas.
Uses special security equipment, such as closed circuit TV (CCTV) systems, to perform surveillance.
Monitors, responds to, and investigates alarms.
Screens personnel and visitors for on-site entry in accordance with company practices and in compliance with regulating agencies.
Observes and reports security infractions, safety and fire hazards in and out of facility and property, and responds in emergencies.
Maintains logs, keeps necessary records, and makes written or verbal reports as required.
May periodically tour premises to examine doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure, and inspects equipment and stores to ascertain if tampering has occurred.
Observes all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent and four or more years in a security capacity.
Must have ability to read, comprehend, and execute security station orders.
Must have related work experience in a professional environment.
Must have basic knowledge of computer operations and applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Must be able to operate the Central Alarm Station, with related card key access systems, CCTV systems, intrusion alarm systems, and related computer CRT and keyboard.
Must be able to work any shift (first, second, and third shifts) as needed.
Must have the ability to drive company security vehicle, as well as possess a valid California Driver’s license and good driving record.
Must be able to present and maintain a Guard Card issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Investigative Services.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Must possess good written and verbal communication skills and be able to interact with all levels of personnel in professional and informative manner.
Must have ability to maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
Must have ability to work extended hours as required.
Central alarm station, First Aid/CPR or EMT, and firefighting training certification and experience.
Position will initially be assigned to a weekend schedule on either a day or evening shift.
Incumbent will be required to wear a company-provided uniform.
Incumbent will be required to return all required security clearance forms for processing within 2 days of hire.
