Overview of the Roles
As the Senior Accountant focusing on reporting and reconciliation, you will be responsible for the month-end close process, including the closing of construction projects, and preparation and review of journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure the overall accuracy of consolidated financial statements. You’ll prepare journal entries, conduct audits, and have a level of expertise high enough to build well-structured reports and other documentation. Coordination with the construction senior accountants will be crucial. You’ll have face-to-face interaction with that team and should be able to proactively gather information, making your requests a priority for people with already long to-do lists.

As the Senior Accountant focusing on construction project costs, you will enjoy a great deal of variety in your accounting / finance duties, and also have a lot of cross-functional interaction. You'll interface with the Construction team and other stakeholders including Project Managers, Developers, Sales, Marketing, Engineering and others. Your concentration will be more financial (e.g. revenue / margins) as you maintain proper cost controls with a layer of accounting on top of that. You'll track costs and enter them into the system, do tax calculations, support 3-way match, etc. For every project assigned, you'll review up-front costs, and the overall costs at closing. You’ll manage two types of station projects: those projects that Clean Energy is building as part of the Natural Gas Highway, and those being built for our clients.

Role Specifics
Your duties, depending upon which role you cover, could include:

Preparing project cost packages, including margin and other critical analysis.

Overseeing the completeness and accuracy of all journal entries and account reconciliations as assigned.

Serving as project lead, as necessary, and ensuring proper preparation and documentation of related journal entries.

Ensuring completeness and accuracy of Clean Energy’s financial records. In particular, work with AR or AP to ensure proper booking of projects revenues, costs and accruals.

Actively participate in quarterly reviews, year-end audits and SOX audits, including preparation of audit support schedules and related requests.

Actively adhere to policies, procedures and internal controls to ensure SOX 404 compliance.

Serving in a key support role with respect to the internal (e.g., Monthly Financial Package) and external (e.g., Form 10-K and Form 10-Q’s) reporting processes.

Submitting recommendations and supporting the development of new procedures to shorten and improve the current closing process.

Actively contribute to the development of global accounting policies to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Note: this description is intended to give you a general overview of the position and is not an exhaustive listing of duties and responsibilities.
