Title: SOA – Architect
Location: Charlotte, NC

Fluency in SOA, decoupling philosophies, and component-based design
Understands and advocates patterns, frameworks and reusability
Strong understanding of DB design and performance considerations
Expected proficiency in IT governance and SDLC's
Project management planning and organizational skills
Analyze technology industry and market trends and determines potential impact upon the business unit
Monitor technology trends (examine emerging technologies; e.g. Social, RIA, wireless, UDDI, web services, etc. to see how/when they might fit into the architecture)
Strategic dexterity: outstanding situational and flexible thinking
Understanding of risk and control of data, including information security, business continuity and resumption.
Conduct tradeoff analysis (be able to look at alternative architectural approaches and present pros, cons and recommendations)
Specify required tools and methodologies (be able to review tools, create standards, review methodologies and defend these choices)
Work with the application teams to ensure consistency
Subject matter expert across multiple technologies, architectures, and business applications with special emphasis on application/systems inter-dependencies
Duties and responsibilities include:
Influence and advises project teams on technology architecture directions and implementations
Documents and communicates the Application Architecture and relevant technology trends.
Leads and manages key architecture efforts, such as architecture definition, pilots, prototypes, testing, and architecture implementations.
Researches, analyzes designs, proposes, and delivers architectural frameworks that are appropriate for the business and technology strategies.
Provides leadership to define web application development standards through collaborative team efforts.
Stays current on technology through a variety of sources such as training, independent research, involvement with standard-setting groups, financial services, and cross-industry groups, etc.
Represents the application function in cross-organizational projects, especially with Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure groups.
Defines and communicates the value and importance of software development measures and metrics.
Assembles and coordinates the work of cross-functional teams and internal peer groups.
Defines and communicates architectural standards and directions through oral and written communication.
Provides expertise and consulting services on several web technologies. Such as web services, user experience, portal frameworks or mobile platforms.
Provides leadership and "mentoring" to other architects throughout the enterprise.
Implements review and governance processes for application architecture, design, and code to insure appropriate business solutions that adhere to enterprise standards and best practices.
Has significant knowledge and technical expertise in building J2EE and SOA applications for one or more lines of business
Works across several business and IT areas, acting to proactively assist in defining the direction for future projects.
Responsible for conception of solutions, building consensus and the selling and execution of such solutions.
