Stonington Institute began serving recovering
alcoholics in 1957 as Starlight Farms, a working farm where adults in
recovery were introduced to the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Today, we are the longest continually operating, free-standing,
voluntary treatment facility in New England. Our main campus is
located in North Stonington, CT, in its original private and peaceful
rural setting. We have additional clinical sites in Groton, CT.
Transportation and off-campus housing assistance make our programs
and services accessible to a statewide clientele. Those programs
include: medical detoxification, rehabilitation/residential
treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient treatment
(both day and evening) and ambulatory detoxification, as well as
residential addictions treatment for active duty and retired military
service members. The Institute accepts private insurance,
state-funded plans and self pay arrangements.
Worker facilitates both educational and therapy groups for
clients in the partial hospital program on a variety of
topics, including spirituality, according to the program
schedule. S/He documents client attendance and participation in
group(s) according to facility procedures and
regulatory/accreditation requirements. S/He also conducts
bio-psycho-social assessments on newly admitted clients as requested.
This position may carry a partial caseload when census
Work week is Monday through
Master’s Degree from an accredited school of
Social Work or in related field (i.e., agency counseling, mental
health counseling, etc.). At least one year experience running
groups and conducting clinical assessments required, ideally in a
mental health or substance abuse treatment environment.
Ideal candidate is able to function effectively in a fast-paced
environment and as part of a team.
