The Anoka County Community Social Services and Mental Health Department has an opening for a Social Worker – Children’s Mental Health, who will primarily assess, plan, and arrange programs for children with severe emotional disturbances.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY):
Provides case management activity with a caseload of children who have a severe emotional disturbance including conducting functional assessments of the child, developing a family community support plan, making treatment recommendations and following through with appropriate referrals; Coordinates treatment provided to the child by other services; Collaborates and networks with schools and community agencies; Provides outreach to any family in need of information and resources in Anoka County; Provides consultation services to ongoing child protection/child welfare social workers in the family service and intake units and community correctons; Intervenes with clients in crisis situations where immediate action is required to prevent harm to self or others; Maintains complete and up to date client records to effectively document case activity and support case decisions. This position is a co-located position located at the Anoka River Trail Learning Center.
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Sociology; three years of clinically supervised work related experience in the delivery of mental health services to children; Master’s Degree in Social Work or in Behavioral Sciences preferred; Current MN Board Licensure e.g. Licensed Social Worker, Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapy, Licensed Professional counselor strongly preferred; one to three years experience in the delivery of services to children and families; or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
Knowledge of: Regulations pertaining to children; methods, values, purposes and principles of Social Work; Federal and State welfare programs and laws; child development, psychopathology in children, and utilization of appropriate community resources and services.
Ability to: Assess and work with families who have children with severe mental, emotional and behavioral problems; employ counseling techniques with an individual, family or group in achieving treatment goals; establish and maintain effective working relationship with clients, co-workers,the juvenile court system, public officials and citizens of the community.
Skills in: Written and oral communication and computer use.
Must possess a MN valid driver’s license, and automobile available for business use; have a good driving record.

Full Salary range: $22.82 - $33.16 per hour
