Technical efforts shall consist on either use water from the laboratory, from DoD installations, or seawater, with sporadic spiking of the water with contaminants of concern, and to have this water treated by the CDI system. Metal and other contaminants shall be measured in the water before and after treatment as a measurement of the capacity of the CDI system to remove these contaminants. The benchmark is to have treated water at drinking levels accepted by the US Environmental Protection Agency.
