Job Responsibilities

This Statement of Work covers the need for the services of a college student(s) to provide technical and/or analytical support in the field of Computer Science/Computer Engineering for the Mercury project. The purpose M this project is to perform new site installations and expansions. Mercury requires an Installation technician to assist in the day -"to-day Information Technology (IT) issues and tasking, and to plan, coordinate and execute Mercury new site installations and existing site expansions.

Minimum Qualifications

Undergraduate (Senior); Computer Science or Computer Engineering majors. This position requires a solid foundation and background experience in the fundamentals and theory of computer technologies, networking technologies and specifically MS Windows domains in networking environments.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Working knowledge of LAN & WAN topology and hardware. Working knowledge of and background in LAN/WAN/networking troubleshooting theory and practical applications. Working knowledge of computer and networking protocols and communications theory and practical applications. Working knowledge of server and client hardware and operating systems, including: Microsoft Windows 2000/2003, Active Directory, SQL Server, Exchange, and Citrix Application servers. In addition, familiarity with Documents Repositories (like SharePoint and/or Open Text LiveLink), VoiP, VTC, and Storage Area Networks (SANs) is ideal. Ability to read and understand standard engineering documentation. Familiarity with the theory and application of fiber-optic communications equipment, connectors, cabling and test equipment including OTDRs and Power Meters. Understanding of the installation and usage of copper cabling, connectors, patch panels, and test equipment including DVMs, TDRs, modular communications testers and protocol analyzers. Ability to assist the Mercury Installations Team members to facilitate the planning, coordination and execution of all new Mercury site installations and existing site expansions. Ability to support the Installation Team's planning and implementation of equipment and system installations, reconfigurations, and upgrades. Ability to support field investigations and site surveys performed by Installation Team members. Ability to assist with completing Installation Development Plans (IDP). Ability to assist in establishing costing for system installations, reconfigurations, and upgrades. Ability to assist coordination with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) for communications services. Ability to assist with material and equipment requirements for installation tasks. Ability to complete monthly Status Reports and Bi-Weekly Time Reports in accordance with basic contract CDRL

Preferred Education/Certifications

Preferred Experience/Special Skills

Information Assurance (IA) & Computer Network Operations (CNO) skills, team leadership, and previous experience in the military environments in support of Information Operations (IO) are highly preferred although not essential. The ideal candidate would have strong communication skills, wotk well with others.
