Job Responsibilities

This Statement of Work covers the need for the services of a college student to provide technical and/or analytical support in the field of Electrical Engineering for the Ship's Signal Exploitation Equipment Modifications (SSEE Mods) project. The purpose of this project is to provide a multipurpose / multi-mission common antenna solution to detect, exploit, deny and deceive any current and future threat between L-band and Ku-band.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be currently enrolled in a college in San Diego County. Minimum of 8 units for students. Graduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of 3 units or enrolled in qualified "full-time" coursework (i.e. thesis or doctoral dissertation). Enrollment for audit or in extension does not count toward full time enrollment. Must be a U.S. Citizen (proof of citizenship must be produced at the time of hire - birth certificate, certificate of naturalization or a U.S. passport must be viewed - the document must be an original or certified copy).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Designing, developing, testing and documenting computer modeling and/or architecture. Collecting test data and criteria to analyze, score, and evaluate. Installing and integrating software applications and hardware components. Resolving workstation hardware and software challenges. Programming and debugging field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) circuit boards and software/firmware programs. Maintaining configuration management of software and firmware. Monthly Status Reports and Bi-Weekly Time Reports shall be in accordance with basic contract CDRL. Verilog, VHDL coding and Xilinx Electrical Engineering major

Working Conditions

A Navy Contract position is available through the SDSU Research Foundation. Work involves performing data analysis at the Naval Laboratories in Old Town or Point Loma (SSC Pacific). Student data analysts employed on the Navy Contract gain insight and work experience in a variety of laboratory research projects related to their major field. Hours are flexible to accommodate class schedule. Work is generally performed Monday through Friday, between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm. Contractors normally average 20 hours per week when school is in session; 40 hours per week maximum during semester/quarter breaks or vacations. Actual work schedule is arranged between the Navy work sponsor and the student contractor.
