The Discovery Consulting team is a segment of the Technology Solutions practice which provides law firms and corporate legal departments with solutions for managing the risks and costs of complex litigation efforts. Our professionals have been engaged to provide consulting services to some of the largest companies and law firms in the United States. We have experience in all phases of litigation, from forensic data collections to data processing, review and production management, and trial preparation. We also provide a full suite of discovery advisory services including discovery assessments, program management, point solutions, spend analysis and management, and ESI data mapping. From a broader view, the Technology Solutions practice is part of Navigant’s Disputes, Investigations & Economics ("DI&E") practice which assists corporations and their counsel in addressing the issues associated with complex disputes, forensic accounting matters, global investigations, compliance, and data management.
As a SQL DBA and Developer, the incumbent is primarily responsible for the direct design, development, testing, enhancement and management of SQL Databases. The SQL DBA and Development would reports directly to the Legal Technology Solutions Director at Navigant’s eDiscovery processing and hosting operations by creating procedures designed to enhance, standardize, and defensibly manage discovery production needs.
Responsible for the day to day administration, troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication, connectivity issues, security issues of the SQL environment and multiple project engagements for the Disputes and Investigations Technology Solutions practice.
Ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code and design ( SPROCS, functions, indexes) using SQL Server 2005/2008 Database management Advanced T-SQL
Experience in performance tuning, query optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks including planning, QA, testing and implementation in a high-pressure environment
Provide technical expertise and support to the development, production and hosting teams as it relates to the applications
Ensure accurate requirements are established to form solution alternatives that fit in with our current infrastructure and client needs
Liaise directly with our internal Discovery Operations production staff, developers, internal Project Managers and the data center, as well as other internal senior leaders
Ensure enhancements follow the IT governance methodology
Manage the preparation of SQL interfaces and configurations
B.S. in Computer Science or commensurate technical work experience
3 – 5 years of experience of MS SQL server application development
Good knowledge of MS SQL server administration
Expert level knowledge of SQL programming and writing stored procedures
Understanding existing complex data models
Creating new data models or additions
Writing SSIS/DTS Packages,
Proven problem solving, analytical and technical troubleshooting skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills as well as analytical ability
Legal Industry / eDiscovery experience preferred. Knowledge of EDD tools a plus (LAW, Relativity etc.)
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Reporting Frameworks experience a plus
