As an IT professional you have expert knowledge in one or more programming languages or databases. Because of your excellent understanding of the entire project life cycle, you have the ability to direct project teams in the gathering, design, and development of complex applications/programs. Specifically, your role within IT falls within the Home Services area of IT, which encompasses applications and processes that support how The Home Depot interacts with various installation partners, as well as customers purchasing our installation services. You will be exposed to the latest Web technologies running at large, enterprise scale. You will work with IT teams and business partners to understand strategic initiatives as well as deliver leading-edge web solutions focused on supporting many of the installation partners that Home Depot works with. We are in the process of building a enterprise web services development team, and are looking for key resources to join the team.
The Sr. Developer has proficient knowledge of multiple programming languages along with the ability to take business requirements and develop the total technical design for an entire application to be run in production. The Sr. Developer has the ability to lay out requirements for the project team. Ability to guide and direct work on multiple projects and ensure proper usage as part of the design efforts in building a system to be put into production. Thorough understanding of life cycle development through production implementation and post implementation. The Sr. Developer has the ability to present at the various architecture review boards. Display strategic view of applications and how they fit into the whole retail space.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -
Define, plan and implement solutions on assigned moderately complex projects.
Take business requirements and develop the total technical design on moderately complex projects and ensure proper usage as part of the design efforts in building a system to be put into production.
Conduct appropriate test reviews for assigned projects and present to architecture review boards as necessary.
Promote and follow the established processes, policies, standards and procedures to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory policies and standards.
Provide technical direction to associate developers, developers and contractors.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass the Drug Test.
Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.
EDUCATION REQUIRED -
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -
Proven experience in the development of enterprise services. This includes best practices / standards / etc.
Proven experience building XML and JSON based API's. These would include REST and SOAP.
Proven experience with handling API's that support mobile apps, and bulk data exchanges with 3rd parties
Experience with synchronous and asynchronous communications.
Proven experience in working with the business to gather / review requirements.
Proven experience working within the Java J2SE stack to develop services using application server such as TomCat. J2EE is not needed
Strong business facing and communication skills
Experience signing up company-suppliers onto EDI or XML based APIs
Exposure to frameworks such as Apigee a strong plus

Ability to communicate issues and recommend solutions in a timely manner to Management.

Experience developing new application systems for production.
