SR PRINC PROCESS SAFETY ENGINEER

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a SR PRINC PROCESS SAFETY ENGINEER at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The Process Safety Engineer position within the Energy PST reports directly to the PT Lead and functionally to the Director, Global Process Safety & Risk Management. This position is responsible for supporting the process safety requirements within the PST including capital projects (for example, cogen, CO2 purification, coal gasification, and ITM plants), product line programs, operating plant programs, R&D activities, and global process safety functional improvement activities.

The process safety activities include: performing hazard reviews (projects and operating plants), interfacing with Engineer, Procure, Construct (EPC) forms, participating in ORIs, performing qualitative risk calculations and consequence analysis, coordinating in-plant and third-party Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA), performing equipment/facility design and siting reviews, participating in Security Vulnerability Assessments (SVAs) as required, and supporting global process safety improvement programs (e.g. training, tools, work processes, process safety standards).

The PST provides support on a global basis; domestic and international travel is required.

Qualifications:
  • 8-15 years of foundational experience in disciplines such as process engineering, process systems, process controls, and/or plant and reliability engineering
  • Previous process safety experience in related industries is very desirable
  • Working knowledge of various industry standards is desirable
  • The position requires a BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (Chemical Engineering is desirable); advanced degree a plus
  • The successful candidate will go through appropriate Process Safety training to effectively execute these responsibilities.

The incumbent will routinely interact with the other global Process Safety team members; it offers a wide scope of technical challenges, and exposure to senior management.
