Job Summary:
The Associate, Technology is a technical member of a project team performing full lifecycle Java software development in an agile environment for a US financial institution. Key responsibilities include design, development, and testing of new system modules, system utilities, and functional enhancements, as well as supporting deployments to a live environment and providing technical support to end-users. Qualified applicants must be detail-oriented, result-driven individuals who work well within team environments and have good interpersonal and client interaction skills.

  • Write Java code based on requirements defined in use cases and wireframes
  • Research and prototype new system modules
  • Translate business and technical requirements into technical and functional designs
  • Participate in end-to-end design and development of new functionality and enhancements to existing functionality including hands-on front-end, business tier, and database-level programming
  • Assist in the deployment of new software components within test and production environments
Write unit tests using Java testing frameworks and participate in functional and system testing

Experience Guidelines:
Demonstrates ability to do technical design and develop using Java technologies including JSP, Servlets and Spring framework
Ability to use integrated development environments (IDE) such as Eclipse , Java Compilers, and build tools like Maven to develop and troubleshoot issues
Familiar with SQL and / or experience with database technologies such as Sybase, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or MySQL
Can code in HTML and JavaScript
Good understanding of all parts of Software Engineering (e.g. Requirements, Design, Implementation, Testing)
Ability to learn new technologies quickly
Minimum 2-3 years in custom software development
Minimum 2 year in Java development
Experience with one or more Java packages such as Hibernate, Spring Framework, Struts, JSF, JEES, or Axis is desirable
Must be client-facing and capable of working in an often ambiguous environment

Desirable/Ideal Skills:
Experience in a consulting environment
Experience implementing large scale custom development and/or system integration projects in one or more phases of the SDLC

Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field from a four-year college or university
