Instructs, plans and implements a full program of structured recreational activities appropriate for the age group which are assigned (6-12 years old or 12-18 years old).
Essential Job Functions
(The position exists to perform these functions.) Supervises, organizes, develops, instructs and inspires activities which meet the physical, mental and emotional needs of children. Enforces and maintains City and Departmental policies as needed. Promotes and maintains good public relations and customer service. Able to exercise extreme safety precautions at all time. Work flexible days and hours.
Preferred Knowledge - Abilities & Skills
Knowledge of a variety of recreational activities and the ability to communicate that ability into organized recreational classes and activities; basic first aid and CPR procedures; methods of supervising recreational activities. Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with staff and the public; explain rules and procedures; maintain discipline; prepare and maintain reports as needed; establish and maintain good public relations. Skill to issue supplies; operate office equipment, telephones and photocopier.
Licenses & Certifications
Valid State of Texas Class C driver's license
Physical Tasks & Working Conditions
Bending, stooping, lifting, moving, and carrying on a daily basis, up to but not to exceed one hundred pounds. The position will work both outdoors in various weather conditions and indoors in a climate controlled facility.

Minimum Education & Work Experience
Completion of one year of college with courses in recreation or related field that includes a strong fundamental background in instructing, coordinating, promoting and implementing recreational activities to an assigned age group. Must be at least 18 years of age.
