Supervises, conducts, and assists in planning recreational activities and services for all patrons using a recreational facility.
Essential Job Functions
(The position exists to perform these functions.) Assist in the control of equipment and supplies. Supervises activities conducted at the recreation center. Enforces and maintains City and Departmental policies as needed. Promotes and maintains good public relations and customer service. Assist with recreation programs, classes and activities as needed. Process computerized activity registration and facility rentals, including the collection of fees and writing receipts. Performs janitorial and other physical duties as required.
Preferred Knowledge - Abilities & Skills
Knowledge of a variety of recreational activities and the ability to communicate that ability into organized recreational activities; basic first aid and CPR procedures; methods of supervising recreation activities; personal computers and software programs. Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with staff and the public; explain center rules and procedures; maintain discipline; prepare and maintain reports as needed; establish and maintain good public relations. Skill to issue supplies; operate a calculator, telephones and photocopier.
Licenses & Certifications
A valid driver's license required for some positions.
Physical Tasks & Working Conditions
Must be able to lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds. Works inside and outside at a recreation center. Work includes standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, and some driving. Work conditions include heat, cold, wind, rain, noise, crowds, and traffic.
