Qualifications Must possess at least a master’s degree (preferably in a human service related field – e.g. social work, psychology, counseling, etc.) and meet Virginia DBHDS criteria for qualified professional (developmental disabilities and/or mental health – preferably both). Understanding of the systems of care for individual with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and mental health needs is necessary. Must have experience supervising professional and clinical staff. Candidates must be highly professional and comfortable working in political environment with high expectations, frequent needs to communicate with outside parties including but not limited to state officials, national consultants, CSB leadership, agency leadership, etc. Candidates must be comfortable managing frequent changes, flexible, patient and comfortable with teamwork and diplomacy. This position carries a very high degree of autonomy and will require an individual that is highly self-motivated. Candidates that have experience with managing crisis services and/or services providing services for individuals with dual diagnoses (I/DD and behavioral health challenges) are encouraged to apply. Reliable transportation is required for this position.

Responsibilities Supervise/oversee the VA START Region I Clinical Team and Respite Programs, establish/maintain linkages and affiliations with community partners, identify training/support needs of the community, coordinate trainings utilizing expertise of team, clinical director, medical director, and other specialists within the community, identify necessary trainings for team members, maintain communication with the with a variety of community partners, oversight entities, etc. and ensure collection of required data and documentation and utilization of START services. The Candidate is responsible for delivery all START Services throughout Health Planning Region I covering central Virginia (CSB areas include – Region Ten, Horizons, Rappahannock, Rappahannock-Rapadan, Harrisonburg, Valley, Northwestern and Rockbridge) . Director is responsible for providing administrative and clinical back up for START coordinators providing 24/7 “on-call” crisis intervention. Director leads daily phone triage conference calls, weekly team meetings and monthly clinical education team meetings. Director is responsible for managing the budgets for the programs, data analysis, managing revenue from third party resources, recognizing additional services needs and forming creative solutions. Frequent and unplanned/crisis response travel is required to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
