Job Description:
The Community Consultant within The Continuum is a part-time leadership position that is paid through a stipend. The Community Consultant is a staff member of The Continuum apartment complex and is supervised directly by the Resident Director. In their role, the Community Consultant will provide staff presence, visibility and intentionality in community enhancement. They will be able to assist in planning and implementing social, educational and recreational programs. This position is a one calendar year commitment with reappointment based on performance appraisals. Individuals must be able to invest weekly to job needs – some of which may be scheduled time. The Community Consultant is required to live in the area he/she is assigned.

I. Description of Duties: Administrative

A. Be familiar with The Continuum lease to answer questions that future and current residents may have.

B. Be familiar with the duties of the leasing assistants to provide help where need be.

C. Help provide administrative support for The Continuum office, including: assist in checking in and checking out apartments, coordination of Building Services and Maintenance requests, and reporting damages.

D. Be familiar with The Continuum area in order to direct routine and emergency maintenance crews to their locations.

E. Assist residents in emergency situations, lockouts, etc. as situations arise. Including completing after hours on-call duties for The Continuum area approximately once to twice a month depending on staff availability.

F. Complete incident reports as needed and assist professional staff in due process needs.

G. Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings as directed by the Resident Director.

H. Attend mandatory training sessions arranged by the Department of Housing and Residence Education and The Continuum.

I. Understand the area office desk operations.

J. Help provide area office desk coverage.

K. Participate in periodic evaluations with the Resident Director to review performance.

L. Perform other duties as assigned by the Resident Director.

II. Description of Duties: - Community Development

A. The primary responsibility of the Community Consultant is to develop the community that he/she is responsible for. The Community Consultant will also maintain hours in the Continuum office to assist with administrative duties.

B. Assist Resident Director with area programming and community building effort, both within the area and Graduate Family Housing Village-wide.

C. Establish and maintain contact with residents, to promote community development within you area.

D. Develop programs based on the needs of your area and the Graduate and Family Housing Programming Model.

E. Conduct program reports/assessments to track the programs conducted in the community and to assess if the programs conducted met the needs of the residents.

F. Monitor and help maintain The Continuum appearance/condition “curb appeal,” and identifying and reporting maintenance problems.

G. Exhibit role modeling behavior and community involvement by displaying a high level of commitment to maintain an environment that is conducive to the growth and well-being of the residents.

H. Uphold community standard policy and document alleged violations.

I. Promote community development through advertising and helping distribute promotional materials.

J. Act as a resource person to residents regarding services on campus and in the Gainesville area.

Minimum Requirements:
A. Full-time University of Florida Graduate student. A full-time student is defined as a University of Florida graduate student taking 6 credit hours or more. Please note that this job requires weekly hours, so class work load will be taken into consideration.

B. Maintain a GPA of 2.7 or better during time of employment.

C. Demonstrate effective skills in communication, leadership and organization.

D. Demonstrate basic computer competency.

E. Availability to work during holiday breaks and between academic terms on a 12-month basis. This job is considered a part-time job.

F. Willingness to provide a minimum of two-week notice prior to terminating employment.

G. This is a live-in position, so this person will need to be able to live on-site at The Continuum.
