This position is responsible for providing effective leadership, direction, development, and support of all subordinates to establish a positive manufacturing environment, producing the highest quality products while operating within fiscal constraints, material utilization and CIP goals, adhering to safety guidelines, maintaining positive employee relations and maintaining labor and overhead budgets. Responsible for providing timely feedback to respective management as to the status of the area.

Assures compliance to all procedures and policies concerning all areas of quality, regulatory, safety and human resources.

Reviews and verifies Work Orders and shift documentation. Assures that production schedules are formulated to maximum plant advantage and ensure schedules are met. Responsible for the accuracy of the documentation required to support production.

Assures timely and relevant communications to and from all levels. This includes assuring communications to Department Manager, between shifts and to related departments.

Directly selects, trains and supervises employees, assures employees understand duties and responsibilities, and reviews and appraises employee performance against established expectations and company policies. Reviews and or initiates all personnel and organizational changes for the respective shift. Coaches, develops, and mentors employees in areas of responsibility. Develops growth plans, interprets, implements and supports employee-related policies, procedures and programs. Assigns tasks to direct staff.

Assists in the implementation of improvement projects as assigned by the Department Manager. Provides leadership and valuable participation in team activities that will enhance the overall effectiveness of the Plant.

Assures financial performance goals are met (such as operating effectiveness, units per labor hour and material usage). Assists in the development of departmental budgets and standards. Has input into all changes including updates, cost improvements and plans. Is responsible for the financial performance of the assigned shift such that budgetary commitments are met. Makes recommendations on capital investments.


Basic Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years experience in a plant production environment, 2 years in a leadership position.
  • Experience in drug, food or beverage manufacturing plant preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to comfortably/effectively lead in a team environment, adaptable to change, able to manage multiple priorities, analytical and problem solving skills, mechanical aptitude, proficiency with PC’s and related software, good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Some travel may be needed, but very limited: maybe 1 or 2 times per year.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education Requirements: 4 year Degree Degree preferred but not required in Business, Science or Technical field or equivalent experience.

Continuous standing for prolonged periods ( more than 2 consecutive houres in an 8 hour day), Continuous walking for prolonged periods (more than 2houres at a time in an 8 hour day)
