This position is being recruited at the Contributing Competency Level under the Career Banding Program. This position is part-time .625 FTE/25 hours per week. The prorated hiring range for this position is $15,625 - $18,580, and the salary grade equivalent is 55. *** THIS IS A TIME-LIMITED POSITION ***
The Gillings School of Global Public Health seeks a part-time Support Services Associate to work a 25-hour per week flex schedule. The position consists of courier/mail delivery. He/she will be responsible for disseminating/delivering packages, in-coming and out-going mail to all departments within the School of Public Health. This person will make daily deliveries to various schools, departments, and locations throughout Chapel Hill, including but not limited to the US Post Office, catering establishments, printing services, etc. as well as making special unplanned deliveries when needed. The individual will also be responsible for taking the state car for maintenance. He/she will be responsible for event set-up and break down. This person will serve as the main contact for setting up events within the School of Public Health. This includes arranging furniture to the specifications required for such events as The World of Difference Dinner, Employee Appreciation Events, various departmental functions, etc. This person will remove the furniture at the conclusion of events. The selected candidate also will work with housekeeping staff to ensure that areas are cleaned and back to their original state. This position will be responsible for daily classroom stock and inspection, which includes a daily morning walk-through of 17 classrooms and 8 meeting rooms across 3 buildings, stocking and re-setting rooms as needed (wipe dry erase boards, stock markers/chalk, erasers, move chairs). He/she will also perform regular checks and stock building finish materials and event furniture store room. This person will report housekeeping or maintenance issues in classrooms or buildings to the Facilities Coordinator. This position will also serve as the backup to Facilities Coordinator. The selected candidate must understand the objectives and have experience in prioritizing tasks, following schedules and anticipating and estimating work tasks to ensure that delivery and other daily time deadlines are met. Must have very strong interpersonal skills and good communication skills and be able to effectively maintain good relationships with multiple departments, students, staff and faculty across the school. This person must provide responsive/quality customer service and be able to respond to feedback to improve procedures/processes. This person must be able to identify and report facility issues within the School. Must have experience in following instructions for standard work and performing routine tasks efficiently. This person will anticipate safety issues and pro-actively search for ways to prevent incidents, enforce post-emergency procedures, and ensure that safety procedures are followed.

Special Physical/Mental Requirements:
Position requires a lot of walking, lifting, etc. Incumbent must be mobile and able to lift a minimum of 10 lbs.
Valid driver's license and ability/willingness to drive is required.
