Miraval Resort & Spa is actively recruiting for a part time safety professional to support our safety compliance and training programs. Under the direction of the Chief Engineer and Human Resources Manager, the Safety Coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of managing the safety & compliance programs for the resort. This position requires attention to detail, strong knowledge of safety and risk management, OSHA, and the ability to work well with people from all levels in the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

Conducting routine safety and compliance inspections on property
Reporting and recordkeeping on safety and compliance areas of improvement
Implementing and conducting regular safety and compliance training programs
Conduct monthly staff safety training and meetings
Maintain all safety files and training records
Formulates general safety policies and procedures to be followed by company personnel in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
Consults with all departments on design and use of equipment, fire prevention and safety program.
Inspects or tours organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, and recommends corrective or preventative measures where indicated.
Compiling and distributing information to be contained in departmental safety manuals
Participates in the investigation of accidents and injuries and suggests prevention measures
Assists with developments of training programs or media designed to increase proficiency in safe work practices and promote safety consciousness.
Works with managers and supervisors to train on effective safety coaching and corrective action plans.
Experience with Hazardous Communication (HazCom) compliance
Fire Extinguisher compliance measures and training

Must have a minimum of 5 years of safety program administrative experience
Experience implementing programs, policies and processes for safety and compliance
Experience developing and delivering safety training materials and classes
Must have experience under OSHA regulatory compliance
Ability to take initiative and work independently when necessary
Exceptional verbal, written and electronic communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse staff and multiple offices
Proficient with MS Office including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Ability to use computer and internet for research
Must be able to speak, read, and write in English
Physical Demands:

This position requires standing and walking at least 80% of the time
Use of arms, hands, wrists and fingers to grasp and hold objects
Sitting to use computer and office equipment as necessary
May be exposed to heat and other weather conditions while outside
May require bending, stooping, twisting, pushing, pulling, kneeling and reaching
