DESCRIPTION

Rapidly growing $50 million service provider is seeking an Safety Supervisor to assist in our growth in the Virginia market. This position is an active, "hands on" role requiring contact with vendors, customers, field operations, field locations, and corporate departments.

AWP (Area Wide Protective) is America's Traffic Control Leader, representing nearly every major public utility - electric, gas, and telecommunications. We provide turn key traffic control solutions, including professional flagging, equipment rental, and full scale work zone management. Daily we deploy over 600 associates to handle simple to complex traffic control situations to keep the motoring public, and our customers safe. Our fleet of more than 500 late model, well-maintained traffic control equipped vehicles are mobile offices for our employees, providing all the equipment necessary to set up safe, well managed work zones. Because of our focus on safety, we consistently achieve the highest safety ratings in our industry. In addition to our daily customer requirements, we also respond within 2 hours to more than 2,500 emergency service requests annually.

DUTIES

RESPONSIBILITIES:
TRAFFIC CONTROL INDUSTRY EXPERTISE
oDevelop a superior understanding of AWP's, American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA), Virginia Department of Transportation and local traffic control rules and regulations.
oBecome a Subject Matter Expert in Work Zone Setup and Design and Professional Flagging responsibilities
oObtain ATTSA Certification

EMPLOYEE HIRING AND DEVELOPMENT
oIdentify, interview and hire qualified people interested in becoming Traffic Control Professionals
oTrain Employees in Traffic Control standards and company policies to ensure safe, compliant work zones
oConduct monthly employee safety meetings

EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT
oManage day to day employee issues including payroll, timekeeping, benefits, time off requests, customer issues and training requirements.
oCommunicate with corporate office as needed regarding employee issues.
oReview employee work zone set up to ensure safety and compliance

EMPLOYEE UTILIZATION
oAssign Employees to daily work.
oProvide information to employee regarding work location and equipment needs.

CUSTOMER MANAGEMENT
oDevelop close relationships with existing clients in order to foster the growth of the Virginia Market.
oUnderstand customer needs including location, equipment and staffing requirements
oFollow up with customers to ensure needs are being met through the services that are being provided. Suggest alternative solutions as needed.
oResolve any customer service issues quickly and efficiently to maintain the highest level of customer satisfaction.

CUSTOMER DEVELOPMENT
oWork closely with Sales and Operations Teams to solidify AWP's presence in the local marketplace and to identify potential opportunities for additional business.
oDevelop and grow the Virginia client base by marketing our services to utilities, contractors, construction, EHS, paving and other related companies.
oMarket to clients via telephone as well as in-person with key customer decision makers for the purpose of marketing our services to prospective clients.
oBuild strong relationships with existing customer base to maintain and grow AWP's business.

OFFICE OPERATIONS
oResponsible for all regional office operations including corporate communication and reporting.
oConvey the corporate focus on SAFETY to employees and customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIREMENTS:
  • 2 or more years of experience managing people and process
  • Strong customer service mentality and proven track record of customer service success
  • Record of growth resulting in increased revenues
  • Track record of success in managing others
  • Strong leadership, communication and coaching skills
  • Understanding of marketing functions a plus.
  • Strategic and tactical thinking ability to enable growth of the market
  • 4 year degree in Business related field preferred.
  • Prior experience preferred in Traffic Control Services or Utility or Construction Industry
  • Able to understand and communicate AWP's value proposition and present it to customers
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office products, and customer relationship management systems.
