HOM Furniture is a growing company and ranks as one of the nations largest furniture retailers serving customers in the upper Midwestern states of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, and Wisconsin.

Our Sales Consultants are energetic and driven individuals responsible for selling our products and services to customers. They know their product, follow up with customers, create opportunities and find meaning in their work.

We prefer candidates with furniture or other large ticket selling experience. We pay our furniture associates variable commission rates based on the furniture sold. The amount you earn is all up to you. We are open 7 days a week and our customers shop heavily during the evenings and weekends so you must be available during those times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Support company standards by meeting agreed upon goals, objections, and selling skills.

Demonstrates selling behaviors consistent with sales guidelines.

Basic computer knowledge & skills.

Completes invoices and processes payments for purchases.

Supports a positive work climate with management and co-workers across the organization.

Embraces personal training, education and development.

Provides feedback to peers, management, and the organization.

Performs various duties as directed by showroom manager.
Due to the nature of retail business, being available to work weekends is a requirement of this position.

Adheres to safe lifting techniques, follows proper training for learned job hazards and ergonomic risk factors, participates in departmental stretching program, and overall maintains a safe working environment.

Language Skills

Requires skills to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Need to be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Demonstrate the ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in written format.

Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Need to be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

SALES CONSULTANTS TASK LIST

SUPPORT COMPANY STANDARDS:
Meet agreed upon sales goals on a month to month basis.
Meet agreed upon HOM guard goal on a month to month basis.
Meet agreed upon leather and fabric protection goal on a month to month basis.
Consistently demonstrate selling skills using the company s structured selling method.
Sales accuracy i.e., Writing invoice, Special orders, Discounting, Delivery Charges, etc.

SELLING BEHAVIORS:
Deal with all customers in a friendly and professional manner.
Maintain a well-groomed professional appearance.
Communicate effectively with customers verbally and written.
Greet all customers within the showroom.
Determine customer's needs using proper inquiries.
Present and demonstrates product in a professional manner.
Guide customers to related add-on sales.
Quote accurate prices and credit terms.
Estimate delivery dates to customer, based on knowledge of firm's own production and delivery schedules.
Lead customers into making buying decisions.
Competently provide answers regarding products to customer.
Recognize and overcome customer objections.
Compile list of prospective customers for future use as sales leads, based on information from previous contacts.
Call regular and prospective customers on a daily basis for the purpose of generating sales.
Send thank you letters to all regular and prospective customers.
Provide customers with after sale service.

1. Price product for promotional events
2. Regular maintenance of price cards
3. Light dusting
4. Vacuuming
5. Maintain all areas of the showroom including personal workspace, all areas of customer contact including, traffic isles, closing stations, kids play area, front area, and all point of purchase
displays.

EMBRACE TRAINING, EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT:
Support all training endeavors
Complete all training lessons on a timely manner as directed by sales manager
Attend and participates in all training and sales meetings, as scheduled
Recognize opportunity for self-improvement
Responsible for staying informed on all new and existing product lines
Responsible for staying informed of competitor information, and performing monthly competitor shops.
Mentor and coach peers as needed
Communicate new procedures and expectations to peers
Learn changes/new skills
Secret Shops will be conducted to ensure selling skills are demonstrated according to company structured selling methods.

MEASURING YOUR SUCCESS:

Make daily evaluations and improvements to Leather and fabric protection production
Work with sales manager to improve performance
Submit accurate sales reports as directed by sales manager, in a timely organized manner
