The successful candidate must be comfortable in a highly technical pre-sales environment, presenting and demoing the product, and designing an implementation with a customer.

The successful candidate will get in on the ground floor of the new Stingray product lines from Riverbed.Stingray is the market leader in the virtual Application Delivery Controller market. Stingray software enables customers to create, manage and deliver exceptional online services in Physical, Virtual and Cloud environments. Implementing a Stingray solution allows organizations to visualize and manipulate the flow of traffic to their web-enabled applications, ensuring a consistently robust web infrastructure.Sales Engineer- Stingray- Western RegionalResponsibilities include: • Technical Pre-Sales Engineer to support Regional Sales teams with the main focus on pre sales activities – including (but not limited to) technical presentations and demonstrations. • Resides in the targeted geography w/local relationships with partners and resellers • Technical leadership and ownership of key customer Proof of Concepts and technical investigations• In-depth technical support for regional sales team• Enabling and training the partners to be able to speak intelligently and show Stingray product in the best light.

This may be in the form of a webex, onsite training, lunch and learn, etc.• Engage regularly and proactively with the SE Director• Engage with prospective customers to understand their business drivers and tailor the optimal solution• Ensure accurate & regular reports are completed and submitted as per business processes• Ability to work independently and driven to produce results with a minimum amount of supervision• Ability to travel 25-50% of the timeRequirements• Experience 7+ years supporting commerical accounts• Knowledge of traffic management and load balancing technologies eg: F5, Citrix etc.• Experience working in a software sales environment• Experience programming in PERL, Java, PGP, XML, etc…• Expert level knowledge of web enabled applications and internet services with associated protocols, e.g. TCP/IP HTTP, SSL, XML, SMTP, POP, DNS etc.• Knowledge of security industry standards and feature sets• Knowledge of Linux and UNIX based systems• Experience working with networking technologies, internet security products and services • Experience utilizing indirect & direct sales methodologies• Willing to travel, work odd hours, and be very available.• Excellent business writing and presentation skills in English.• BS/BA in relevant field (CS, EE, MIS)Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD) is a San Francisco-based company.
