We are growing and are in need of an aggressive; compensation oriented Sales Engineer to sell our Assureon archiving storage products into the eastern U.S. & eastern Canada! The Sales Engineer is a highly technical professional possessing in-depth knowledge of the archiving industry as well as specialized knowledge of archiving solutions. Windows and UNIX file systems along with IP networking environments.

Position Description:
  • Introduce new data archive solutions to the market and proactively ensuring that Nexsan VARs are well equipped to succeed selling Nexsan Assureon products.
  • Partner in the sales process contributing heavily to the creation of sales strategy and tactics.
  • Foster end-user sales, pursue quality leads and establish joint meetings with prospects and value added resellers.
  • Must be located near a major city with access to an international airport, estimated 70% travel

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The Sales Engineer is a highly technical professional possessing in-depth knowledge of the archiving industry as well as specialized knowledge of archiving solutions, Windows and UNIX file systems along with IP networking environments.
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical leadership and subject matter expertise pertaining to medical archiving technologies, Ethernet based storage products, distributed storage architectures, file systems, and competitive offerings in the archiving product space.
  • Using professional innovation and tenacity, the Sales Engineer will establish and nurture sales pipelines specifically for Nexsan Assuroen, a cutting-edge solution for enterprise data archival.
  • Activities include but are not limited to presentations/white boarding, solution demonstrations, account management, assisting customers with evaluations, benchmarks and installations, timely follow-up to Imation Nexsan customer inquiries, and building system configurations.
  • As part of the sales process Sales Engineer will help to install the hardware at the customer site or train the reseller technical team to be able to perform the installation of the Assureon hardware.
  • The Sales Engineers maybe called upon to assist with problem resolution as necessary. Sales Engineers may also be called on to assist with trade and marketing shows.

Required Skills and Responsibilities:
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other technical degree and/or equivalent experience
  • Five years minimum experience supporting the technical sales of archiving solutions, networking or systems solutions to large enterprise accounts and data centers.
  • Previous experience in a Sales Engineering support role for a Regional Sales Manager
  • Ability to demonstrate solutions to customers/potential customers as part of a sales campaign
  • Ability to support and manage a customer proof-of-concept promoting key feature functionally which differentiates Nexsan from other industry solutions
  • Knowledge of industry benchmarking standards and performance tuning/sizing
  • Ability to translate technical features into tangible customer business benefits
  • Ability to prepare and deliver technical product and architecture presentations at a CxO level
  • Ability to develop technical solutions to customer business issues including and identifying new technologies or technologies outside of Nexsan products and solutions
  • Actively contribute to meeting or exceeding revenue targets by providing pertinent, timely and on-going customer technical information flow
  • Ability to significantly contribute to and/or lead responses to RFPs, RFQs and RFIs
  • Desire to be an active contributor in building 'Best Practices' among peers in sales and systems engineering
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Specialized knowledge of UNIX OS, NFS file systems and UNIX distributed network environment
  • Knowledge of Windows Server 2003 and 2008, SMB and CIFS file systems
  • Experience in installation/configuration of distributed computing, multiprocessing, virtual memory subsystem, storage subsystems architecture, shared memory architectures, cache architectures, windowing systems
  • Ethernet, TCP/IP, general networking knowledge
  • Understanding of the architecture, design and implementation of other archiving storage solutions would be a definite asset. Examples of other archiving solutions would be:
    • EMC Centera
    • Caringo
    • Hitachi HCAP
    • HDS Archivist
    • HP MAS
  • Knowledge of current and emerging archiving architectures
  • Travel within the assigned geography and available means of transportation is required with travel outside of the geography occurring occasionally – A valid driver’s license is also required
  • Must be located near a major city with access to an international airport, estimated 70% travel
