This is a Salaried Exempt FT position, that will report to the General Manager at the Country Inn & Suites located in Dalton, GA.Position Purpose To achieve hotel revenue, profit and customer satisfaction goals by prospecting and managing primarily corporate and transient business and coordinating the execution of the business with other departments. Constituents Customers/Clients (National, Regional and Local Businesses), Owners, Co-Workers & Home Office,Vendors, Community Indicators of Success Achievement of sales goals; achievement of customer satisfaction and loyalty goals; and achievement of financial goals Areas of Responsibility a) Achieve hotel revenue goals by prospecting, qualifying, saturating, penetrating and managing business opportunities. Analyze business results on a regular basis and make recommendations to improve results as appropriate. Forecast and compare actual operating results with budget projections. b) Ensure customer satisfaction by following up on booked business periodically to ensure that the hotel is meeting the client's needs. Maintain contact with previous clients to ascertain future business requirements. Refer business to other hotels as appropriate. c) Work with businesses on a national, regional and local basis to identify the most profitable customers. Identify and market to feeder cities that will attract business into the hotel. d) Seek information from clients about their business needs, seasonality, budget guidelines, hotel needs and services. Provide customized lodging solutions as needed. Negotiate with clients on pricing and value-added solutions, with the assistance of the supervisor. Conduct client visits to illustrate the property and available services. e) Tentatively block rooms, notifying all necessary departments as appropriate. Upon receiving a signed "Rate and Service Plan", communicate terms to other departments to properly and promptly load rates and generate awareness. In conjunction with the Guest Service Manager, oversee, manage and track the way in which room reservations are made, the pick-up of group blocks, adherence to cut-off dates, and any subsequent adjustment to room blocks (positive or negative). f) Supply weekly, monthly and annual reports supporting productivity standards. g) Keep necessary parties promptly and fully informed of all changes, problems or unusual matters of significance so that prompt corrective action can be taken when appropriate. h) Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other Associates to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate, which will be conducive to maximize Associate morale, productivity, efficiency and effectiveness. Project a favorable image of the Brand and the Company to promote its aim and objectives to foster and enhance public recognition and acceptance of all areas of endeavor. Key Skills and Requirements a) Business Communication - Use results-oriented writing techniques and strategies for correspondence with correct grammar and punctuation.b) Computer - Ability to use computer hardware and software including, but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet.c) Organization - Demonstrate ability to proactively prioritize needs and effectively manage resources and time.d) Decision Making - Improve the speed and direction of decisions by clarifying and setting goals, sharing perspectives on reality, identifying options and creating consensus on a way forward (action steps).e) Planning - Skilled in determining whether tasks should be attempted, identifying the most effective way of completing the task and preparing how to overcome unexpected difficulties.f) Delegation - Assign tasks using such techniques as individual skills assessment, objective setting, and communication.g) Sales Skills - Understand the positioning of the hotel, amenities and services provided and how the hotel can meet the needs of Guests and potential Guests and be capable of closing business.h) Stand-up/or One-on-one Training - Skilled in the use of techniques and strategies required to deliver training material in-group and one-on-one settings.
Training/Education required:Candidates should have a minimum of a two year associates degree in sales or marketing, and/or equivalent experience in the hospitality industry. Candidates must be committed to the Dalton, GA area. Experience DesiredMinimum of two (2) to four (4) years of outside sales experience. Qualification Standards * Ability to accept directions and priorities from the Director of Sales or General Manager and reliably follow-through on tasks.* Ability to cooperate and support others.* Ability to work independently with little supervision.* Assists and performs other duties as requested/required.This job description does not include all duties performed by the Associate.
