GE Analytical Instruments provides world-class water quality measurement solutions to the pharmaceutical, semiconductor, power generation and lab/science industries, and has an opportunity for a Sales Representative in the Ohio Valley US (ideally in the Indianapolis or Cincinnati metro areas).
The Sales Representative will be responsible for achieving quarterly and annual sales targets for instruments and aftermarket products/services in the West. In addition, the employee will be expected to have or be able to quickly develop their skills in the in the following areas:
Sales Skills – Expected to demonstrate proficiency in sales skills including prospecting, negotiations, closing, time management, Strategic Selling concepts, key account activities, product demonstrations, and presentations
Technical, Applications, and Market Knowledge – Expected to have a solid technical understanding of our products and services
Be responsible for updating a CRM database system on a regular basis
Create and frequently update lead, company, contact, user group, and opportunity records; create quotations; record key customer interactions as notes; and update forecasted opportunities (within a 90 day horizon) on at least a monthly basis
Remain forecasted opportunities on a periodic basis
Keep management and the appropriate Product Manager informed and aware of market trends and customer feedback
Be proficient at communicating to customers and coworkers on the phone and in person
Communicate with other sales team members to discuss market information, sales strategies and tactics, and to coordinate key account opportunities that span multiple territories and regions
Be available to travel on a frequent basis (up to 75% overnight, as business needs require) to customer sites in the assigned territory to perform product demonstrations, assist in the sale of aftermarket products, and visit existing customers to prospect for new opportunities
Attend company sponsored trade shows within the territory and makes sales management aware of local or regional conferences that would help create sales opportunities in the territory
Travel to and participates in company sales conferences and meetings
Comply with all company policies including Environmental, Health and Safety requirements
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University
Minimum of 5 years experience in technical sales
Ability and willingness to travel up to 75% of the time, as required
Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline
Basic technical understanding of our competitors’ products and sales distribution
Complete understanding of industry regulations as they relate to our products
Have an excellent understanding of our primary markets and applications (these include the pharma (cleaning validation and USP PW/WFI), microelectronics (UPW and reclaim), municipal water (regulatory and plant monitoring), and power (plant performance and co-gen) markets and related applications)
Analytical instrumentation experience
In-depth knowledge of high-purity water systems
In-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry
Experience selling to the municipal water and/or power industry
Excellent problem solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
