The Scientific Manager, Molecular Biology is responsible for the planning and execution of research and development projects leading to Laboratory Developed Tests. The ideal candidate will apply biochemistry/molecular biology, next-generation sequencing or other technologies to the development and validation of molecular tests to be run in CLIA-certified labs. The Manager will have direct oversight of a scientific group responsible for the development of the organization's molecular assays and will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating completion of tasks and projects. The Manager will also be responsible for maintaining clear and concise documentation of the development, validation and transfer processes and reports. Lastly, the Manager will select, develop and evaluate support personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
•Lead scientific effort to develop novel assays relevant to company objectives
•Establish a strong voice within the organization that will help in maintaining scientific rigor within the R&D organization
•Maintain an efficient hand off process to the CLIA laboratory
•Insure that all work is properly documented in the form of laboratory notebook, study reports and summary reports
•Publish scientifically relevant data in peer reviewed journals
•Participate in development of patent applications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
•A PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics or a related discipline is required
•8-10 years post-doctoral work experience.
•Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing technologies, real-time PCR or microarrays is a plus
•Background with statistical analysis of large data sets and bioinformatics is a plus
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
•Expertise in molecular biology DNA techniques
•Management of scientific personnel/projects
•Some experience with automation.
•Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills.
•Ability to plan, prioritize and execute experiments independently and efficiently
•Flexible and cooperative spirit with strong commitment to team efforts.
