International Safeguards expert to head the International Safeguards Project Office (ISPO), responsible for the management of the U.S. Support Program to IAEA Safeguards (USSP). Direct oversight of fifteen technical and administrative staff members and consultants located at BNL and the U.S. mission in Vienna, direct oversight of USSP management, frequent interaction with U.S. government agencies and IAEA representatives, and responsibility for tracking $20 million in program funding. Requires a Ph.D. and fifteen years' experience in nuclear engineering or the physical sciences, or a related discipline, including ten years' experience in international or domestic nuclear safeguards and nuclear non-destructive and destructive assay measurement technology, and five years' experience in project management, excellent written and oral communication skills, experience with project management of multi-partner, international, technical projects, experience with subcontracting, a proactive and detail-oriented approach to work, excellent organizational skills, U.S. citizenship and a Q clearance, or the ability to obtain one, and experience with IAEA Safeguards activities. This job will require periodic domestic and international travel. Nonproliferation and National Security Department, Safeguards and Verification Implementation Group.
