Position Responsibilities: Participate in the development of new in-vitro diagnostic products under the supervision of a project leader and/or R&D manager. Develop and evaluate new techniques and procedures for establishing and characterizing key materials and reagents for sue in in-vitro diagnostics products. Work effectively as part of a cross-functional team to develop and commercialize new products. Fluency in the use of laboratory equipment and instrumentation including the automated BioPlex 2200 analyzer. Tabulate and report data in a suitable format such as Microsoft Excel. Analyze and document results and conclusions in notebooks, spreadsheets, databases, and reports. Follow established protocols, SOPs and batch record instructions as required. Formulate buffers and reagents, execute biochemical assays and procedures including immunoassays. Handle clinical specimens used in experiments and studies. Maintain laboratory workspace. Adhere to laboratory guidelines, including safety guidelines.

Education: PhD in a biological or physical science.

Experience: Minimum three years’ post doctoral experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, or chemistry, in an academic or industrial environment. Experience with molecular biology techniques and protein techniques including purification, characterization, and chemical modification is required. Strong computer and data analysis experience, including statistical analysis is required. Additional experience in immunoassay developmental, clinical diagnostics, and use of laboratory instrumentation and automation equipment is preferred.

Skills: Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques including cloning and expression of recombinant proteins is required. Direct experience with protein purification by HPLC is required. Hands-on experience with protein characterization techniques including: SDS-PAGE, immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, peptide mapping, mass spectrometry, and surface Plasmon resonance is required. Additional skills in immunochemistry, protein modification chemistry, immunoassay development, and antibody screening and characterization techniques are desirable. Excellent skills in the use of spreadsheet and database programs are required, experience with statistical analysis software is desirable. Demonstrated data analysis skills are essential, experience with design of experiment and statistical techniques desirable. Strong organizational skills, demonstrated attention to detail, and good written and verbal communication skills are essential.
