Ke'aki Technologies has an exciting opportunity for an Scientist / Research Investigator in support of The US Army Medical Research Institute for Chemical Defense (USAMRICD). The USAMRICD mission is to develop medical countermeasures to chemical warfare agents and to train medical personnel in the medical management of chemical casualties.
5 years experience conducting research in wound healing or skin science. Prior hands-on animal handling experience and research experience in skin science with particular emphasis in non-invasive/non-destructive skin analysis. Demonstrated experience with statistical design of experiments (DOE), and multivariate statistical modeling of complex data. Shall be required to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance due to government contract. Shall be required to obtain and maintain approval as a chemical surety material (CSM) operator and custodian. Education: Position requires a Ph.D, biomedical engineering or related field. Work shall involve routine handling of laboratory swine. When necessary by the study protocol, guinea pigs, rabbits, or primates may also be used. The contractor shall serve as a Research Investigator within the Medical Toxicology Branch of the Analytical Toxicology Division and will perform research on the medical management of cutaneous wounds and participate in percutaneous toxicology studies.
Contractor shall develop and validate in vivo and in vitro research models for the investigation of cutaneous wound healing and the comprehensive performance of candidate treatments for cutaneous wounds. Contractor shall plan and execute in vivo and in vitro studies involving chemical warfare agents. Contractor shall identify, validate, and implement non-destructive and end-point methods for assessing skin health status. Contractor shall conduct efficacy evaluations of potential treatments against cutaneous wounds of interest to Army and their customers. Contractor shall oversee the research activities of an in-house technical team and leverage such manpower to achieve the objectives of the assigned research efforts. Contractor shall cultivate extramural collaborations and contracts to augment the research program. Contractor shall contribute to long-range program planning. Contractor shall prepare and present project status reports, posters, oral presentations, technical reports, and peer-reviewed manuscripts to communicate research findings.
