Amgen, South San Francisco is seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and team-oriented candidate for the position of Scientist in the Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism (PKDM) group. Primary responsibilities of this position include:
1) Representing the PKDM function on large molecule multidisciplinary drug-discovery project teams, working collaboratively with other departments to identify optimal candidates to advance from preclinical to FIH status,
2) Designing pharmacokinetic, disposition, and/or stability studies, working with other PKDM scientists, to identify key characteristics important for drug exposure, biomarker response, and pharmacological effect, and
3) Applying fundamental knowledge of protein biochemistry to support large molecule discovery across the PKDM group.
Master’s degree & 5 years of scientific experience
Bachelor’s degree & 7 years of scientific experience
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Protein Pharmacokinetics, Protein Science/ Engineering, Biochemistry, or related field.
4 or more years biotechnology experience discovering large molecule therapeutics.
Experience with various biologics modalities (e.g., antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates, Fc-fusion proteins, peptides, etc.) is essential.
Demonstrated ability to gauge complex PKDM challenges and reduce them to actionable experimental strategies to address key scientific issues is expected.
Excellent team and oral/written communication skills are required.
Experience with, or working knowledge of, bioanalytical approaches for quantification of large molecules is desirable.
