The Clorox Company has an opportunity in the Advanced Measurement Sciences (AMS) Group at our Research and Development center in Pleasanton, California for a Post-doctoral Scientist or Scientist II, entry-level, full time candidate to develop and apply methods to measure and model household and professional product performance and attributes. The postdoctoral assignment is a temporary 1-year position with the potential to convert to a permanent position depending on business needs, growth in the role and job performance. Exceptional candidates meeting all requirements for the Scientist II, entry level position may be immediately considered for a permanent position.
The AMS group plays an important role in Clorox R&D due to their unique contributions in three key areas:
1 . Knowledge of measurement tools,
2. Fundamental understanding of Chemistry and
3 . Experience in the 3P’s; Clorox Products, Processes and Packaging.
The scientist would make an immediate impact in areas 1 and 2 and, over time, in area 3 . Specifically, the scientist would use existing or develop new analytical capabilities to support the discovery and development of a wide variety of products and key technology and chemistry Platforms within R&D.

Degrees / Majors:
Ph.D. Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry or related field.
Candidates must be qualified based on education and expertise in the area of Separations including sample preparation, method development, operation and basic maintenance and data interpretation in GC, GC-MS, headspace, SPME, HPLC, LC-MS, and Ion Chromatography etc. Further, knowledge and experience in the area of Complex fluids (colloids, surfactants, Rheology) as applied to Foods, Cleaning and Personal care products would be a plus.
Qualified candidates will be technically advanced, highly motivated, self-starters who can apply their skills to diverse, challenging, and practical product problems in a fast-paced team environment. They must enjoy working in the lab and be comfortable contributing to projects that span a wide variety of consumer and professional product applications in a fast-paced business environment with rapidly changing needs and priorities. They will be expected to communicate and collaborate with colleagues in a variety of diverse disciplines and functions to deliver business-building solutions. They partner with vendors and other external resources to acquire the best technology. They are skilled at effectively communicating solutions to problems and advocating appropriate recommendations to technical management and the business community in general.
