NREL's Chemical and Materials Science Center has an immediate opening for a half time Scientist III position. This assignment is for one year with possible renewal. Job Duties Conduct fundamental studies on materials, designs and systems for a new field of chemical research which involves measuring the electronic energy levels and electrocatalytic abilities of non-equilibrium structures. This is related to the entatic state hypothesis which may explain how some two-electron transfer enzymes function. The position may involve some chemical and catalyst synthesis, polymer processing, designing new experiments and instruments, electrochemistry, etc. Of immediate interest are fuel-forming electrocatalytic systems, but other physical and optical measurements will also be performed. The successful candidate will have diverse interests, be creative and able to progress in a field where there is little to no literature precedent.
