Conduct nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy lab projects to maximize the efficiency of material identification. Plan, conduct, interpret and report data & chromatographic/analytical tests to support the development of new USP Reference Standards. Provide technical review of laboratory reports; provide project and technical support within Reference Standards Laboratory (RSL), including managing project tasks, interacting with customers to evaluate candidate reference materials and collaborating with RSL leaders. Liaise with other departments to solve technical and process-related issues. Provide technical review for deviation investigation, out-of-specification or aberrant results and process changes. Troubleshoot assay and instrumentation issues, including data mining, trending and analysis to identify problems or determine process control. Investigate, evaluate and recommend laboratory equipment purchase; ensure maintenance of and author SOPs for NMR instrumentation. Train and mentor junior laboratory scientists regarding technical knowledge, work ethic, and attitude. Prepare study reports and present data to USP and customers. Review and evaluate scientific literature; organize, implement and evaluate collaborative studies; attend scientific seminars and present publications. Utilizing experience in Delta software on JEOL NMR to conduct time course kinetic studies in NMR tubes; data acquisitions and interpretations, quantitative and qualitative NMR analysis; draft SOPs; determine intermediates and end products; Spectroscopy, Chromatography, and Lyophilization techniques; solve organic structure characterizations.

Job in Rockville, Maryland. 37.5 hour work-week.
