We are looking for an outstanding scientist in the field of biochemistry/microbial physiology/bioenergetics to join a team of experienced and highly motivated scientists with a desire to realize market competitive green technology alternatives for traditionally oil-derived products. The successful candidates should have experience in metabolic pathway characterization and manipulation in addition to a working knowledge of enzymology, metabolic regulation, and analytical biochemistry. We are looking for an independent but collaborative thinker that can apply theory to practical bio-based solutions. The candidate should have a strong intuitive understanding of microbial physiology, a can-do attitude, strong problem solving capability, excellent communication skills, and demonstrated leadership skills. In addition, the candidate should be proficient in both dry and wet lab settings and have a desire to see their teamâ€™s products reach the market place.
Job Description/Primary Duties:
Biochemistry/microbial physiology/bioenergetics-based experimental design and execution
Active participation in a large team setting
Goal-oriented investigation of microbial metabolism and metabolic pathway design
You are qualified if you meet the following requirements:
PhD in Biochemistry, Microbial Physiology or Bioenergetics
At least three â€“ five years of practical lab experience in an academic or biotechnology industry setting
Must be able to rapidly analyze results and present high quality data.
Excellent communication skills and the desire to work with a multidisciplinary team.
Highly motivated with strong problem solving skills and be capable of working independently or in a collaborative setting.
Strong analytical and organizational skills are highly desirable.
Experience in understanding in vivo enzymology to identify metabolic pathway bottlenecks is highly desired.
Computer-aided microbial modeling and design skills and the ability to perform wet lab experiments based on modeling results is desirable.
Experience designing, validating, and implementing strategies for selections/enrichments to improve metabolic pathways/enzymes is desirable.
Experience in developing multi-enzyme in vitro/in vivo models to develop an understanding of microbial metabolism is desirable.
