DESCRIPTION

This position oversees the operation of the store's Seafood Department, including product quality, merchandising, inventory and labor cost control, hiring and training, and other basic business operations.

DUTIES

Key areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Participating in the hiring and training of qualified team members.2. Participate in performance management, including recommendations for promotions and corrective actions.3. Managing the labor of the department, including setting schedules and monitoring hours worked ot keep labor costs within set guidelines.4. Creating appealing display cases5. Stocking and inventory management6. Work with other departments to cross-sell merchandise7. Monitoring team progress in meeting quarterly sales goals.8. Monitor product quality, rotate product appropriately, and remove unacceptable product from shelves to ensure top quality items are availalbe to the customer at all times.9. Maintain current knowledge of all health, safety and sanitation guidelines and ensure these guideleines are followed throughout the department.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. At least one year of previous experience in a Meat & Seafood settting. 2. Previous experience in a management position preferred 3. Strong working knowledge of relevant equipment and the required maintenance and cleaning procedures. 4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are a must due to high levels of interaction with customers.4. Should be able to function well independently and in a team setting. 5. Basic math and reading skills.6. In addition to other physical requirements listed on a full job description, applicants must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis, bend/squat all the way to the floor, stand and walk for long periods of time, and tolerate wide changes in temperature.
