General Summary :
Under the direction of the portfolio manager, Emerging markets, conduct research and make investment recommendations based on fundamental security analysis.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities :
Analyze fundamental macroeconomic and market-related country data on assigned countries and recommend appropriate country allocations.
Analyze fundamental industry and company data; including but not limited to, examination of accounting, financial, and competitive factors on assigned international regions.
Advise STRS portfolio managers regarding the investment merit of individual securities and industries.
Maintain contact with brokerage-house analysts and investment managers who specialize in industry segments and countries corresponding to those of the analyst.
Travel includes company and country visits, sponsored field trips, conferences, and financial analyst society meetings.
Prepare special projects as directed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in business administration or accounting preferred.
Two to four years experience in analytical securities research position strongly recommended.
Ability to research and analyze data and make valid conclusions. Knowledge of relevant analytical software preferred.
Successful completion of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level 2 examination strongly recommended.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work well with minimal direct supervision.
Excellent work record of attendance and punctuality; occasional evening, weekend and non-regular work hours required.
