Position Summary:

The Senior Account Executive serves as the client’s primary contact within the agency to represent the client’s requests and point of view. The SAE assists in development, execution, and management of digital strategies and solutions for client needs. While the primary focus is on digital solutions, the SAE must possess a broader base of knowledge of marketing fundamentals and strategy specific to the pharmaceutical industry. He/she is responsible for key facets of account management, including planning, developing, and implementing client initiatives; maintaining client satisfaction; identifying and organizing growth opportunities with the client by building client relationships, establishing and monitoring budgets, ensuring adherence to timelines, and identifying and enlisting resources; and ensuring the quality and timeliness of the final deliverable product.

Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree (minimum), preferably in health sciences, marketing, or communications field
  • Keen understanding of pharmaceutical Medical/Legal/Regulatory compliance
  • Understanding of marketing/brand strategies and pull through to digital marketing deliverables
  • 2 to 4 years of pharmaceutical and/or agency experience
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of pharmaceutical industry
  • Extensive knowledge of communications planning and branding
  • Superior oral and written communications skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage numerous projects, requests, and responsibilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to monitor competitor and industry developments
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, follow-through and on-time completion of tasks
  • Ability to function as leader with internal and external teams
  • Basic understanding of digital marketing principles
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to drive and motivate a team
Position Responsibilities:

Demonstrates behavior expected of a professional member of the organization, including but not limited to:

Client management
  • Supports Account Supervisor (AS) and Account Director (AD) in cultivating and building solid relationships with clients
  • Schedules and prepares materials for client meetings including submissions for Medical/Legal/Regulatory review
  • Documents client contacts (via e-mail), requests (change orders), and meetings (conference reports) concisely and accurately
  • Prepares and sends materials to vendor and clients
  • Performs research as directed by AS/AD
  • Keeps internal team apprised of client activities and needs
  • Identifies and organizes growth opportunities within current client base
  • Manages financial aspects of products as assigned
  • Ensures that all project timetables are met
  • Interfaces with client at product management level and with appropriate support departments
  • Contributes to development and implementation of product communication (publication, advocacy development, and medical education) plans
  • Continuously monitors the marketplace and provides updates to client and agency on brand issues
  • Keeps supervisors aware of all issues within client’s organization and within agency
  • Able to partner with internal and external team members to avoid/resolve conflict
Project management
  • Works closely with Project Management department to execute all details of projects
  • Provides effective direction to agency team
  • Functions as internal team leader, ensuring that all members of the team work together smoothly and effectively
  • Linear thinker comfortable following required processes, but able to impact them (as needed)
  • Alerts AS/AD when job may exceed estimate—projects must be on budget
  • Reviews monthly billing with AS/AD
  • Works with PM to maintain status report, including timelines
