Reporting to MMC Internal Audit Management, the
participates in executing all aspects of an audit, including planning, documentation of process flows, execution of various audit programs, fieldwork testing, report writing, and presentation to management, at various MMC entities where the nature of business varies from risk and insurance services to consulting services.
MMCo Internal Audit focuses on the "Objective, Risks, and Controls" perspective, derived from the original COSO study and related auditing framework. The ideal candidate will assess and evaluate the adequacy of internal controls, governance framework, and compliance with company policies and procedures. Upon identification of control weaknesses, accounting/reporting deficiencies, and/or business productivity as well as efficiency opportunities, the Senior Auditor, with guidance from senior members of the audit engagement team, works with management to agree upon necessary corrective action to remediate any control weaknesses/deficiencies.
Having a comprehensive understanding of MMC businesses, business objectives, processes, policies and procedures, and industry standards is vital to provide assurance that internal controls over financial reporting and business processes are in place.
Gain comprehensive understanding of auditable entity's operations, processes, policies and procedures, industry standards, and business objectives. Apply that knowledge on engagements.
Through training, as appropriate, gain a thorough understanding of business operations potential risks, and appropriate controls.
Perform financial, operational, and compliance internal audit reviews and other special projects.
Assist in planning the scope of work for each assigned engagement.
Develop audit steps and substantive testing procedures.
Assist in allocating work among staff and ensure that all staff members are properly trained and prepared in the respective areas prior to fieldwork.
Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls as well as compliance with company policies and procedures of key processes across the organization.
Review financial statements and related records for appropriateness of accounting and financial reporting and procedures.
Identify control weaknesses, accounting/reporting deficiencies and/or business productivity/efficiency opportunities.
Document and review process flow narratives, identify key controls, perform and review testing and document conclusions effectively.
Work with management to identify corrective actions for improvement given existing business and control risks and other cost-benefit considerations. Discuss findings with various levels of management.
Collaborate and assist Internal Audit Management in the administrative duties of the department.
Interact with all levels of personnel both within Internal Audit and the business units across the organization.
Counsel, direct, supervise and formally evaluate the staff auditors. Review their work on a timely basis for adequacy and possible improvements.
Actively pursue continuing professional education in line with the department's needs and the auditor's career development.
Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance or related business fields;
Minimum of 4 years auditing experience (internal audit a plus) - compliance, insurance broking, or consulting auditing experience is considered a plus;
Adaptable, dynamic, team player with initiative who wants strong career development opportunities;
Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills;
Interpersonal skills are essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of personnel both within Internal Audit and the business units;
Willingness to travel (40 to 50% per annum), including international engagements;
Active pursuit of professional designations (e.g. CPA, CIA, CISA or related qualification) is desired;
Other than English, language skills a plus
