Senior Clinical Advisor Perioperative Services –
  • Operating Room (Sisters of Charity Hospital ) : Acts as a clinical resource with advanced theory, clinical knowledge, and skills in Peri-operative services. Responsible for the ongoing assessment of the learning needs of the Peri-operative staff in all job categories in OR, PACU, ASU, PSE, Endoscopy , Labor and Delivery (support the surgical process) ,Sterile Processing and Interventional Radiology and development and implementation of educational programs. Responsible for policy and procedure update and revisions and assists with the Performance Improvement program. Promotes and supports system integration efforts

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No staff responsibilities
    · Evaluation of staff practice and competencies
    · Daily monitoring of staff in relation to their practice in regard to patient safety and compliance of regulatory standards
    · Input into staff evaluations
    · Zero tolerance for employees not demonstrating core values
    · Empowered to intervene as necessary including disciplinary action in conjunction with appropriate member of Nursing Management Team
    SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM):

    Education :
    · Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing .
    · Current licensure as a registered nurse in New York State
    · BSN required
    · MSN preferred
    · CNOR preferred. Certification required within 1 year
    Experience:
    ·
    Minimum of five years working in OR required
    · Experience in preceptor or teaching preferred
    · Membership in professional organization preferred. Required within one year of accepting position
    Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
    ·
    Computer literate
    · Ability to use and teach use of highly technological surgical equipment and associated supplies
    · Strong written and verbal communication skills
    Working Conditions:
    ·
    The position required heavy physical demands of lifting, positioning patients and moving equipment.
    · Works within surgical services nursing units
