Strategic Intelligence/Analytics is responsible for strategic data/information, value at stake analysis and other business analytics in support of strategic planning and execution

Accountabilities in this role
The Business Intelligence Senior Consultant is responsible for applying business process knowledge and data analytics to develop, recommend and communicate timely, accurate, relevant, and actionable insights to support business decisions and objectives for the Medical Segment for Cardinal Health.


  • Lead the business unit subject matter expert council and provide general support/guidance as needed
  • Develop ongoing training curriculum to support self service reporting/analytics
  • Uses knowledge of business and data to discover and/or anticipate problems or opportunities where data can be leveraged to address the need
  • Partner with information technology to ensure the right technology applications are available
  • Communicate and make modeling operational

  • BS/BA Business or equivalent
  • 3-5 years professional experience
  • 4 SAP Business Objects (ie. Webi, Xcelsius/Dashboards, Explorer)
  • 8 years experience with data query, visualization, dashboard and/or scorecard tools
  • Analytical & Word Processing: Must demonstrate command of MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook)
  • Presentation: must demonstrate clear, concise articulation of proposed actions, illustrating opportunity, alternatives, recommendation and associated economics
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or MS in related field
  • SAP
  • Experience applying business intelligence solutions to the distribution or healthcare industries
  • Adept at learning and applying new technologies; Possess analytic curiosity to seek out and develop potential solutions and drive continuous improvement; motivated by challenging, complex problems
  • Experience with agile development methodology and in-database processing
  • Experience with SQL, statistical software packages (e.g. SAS and SPSS) plus open source analytic frameworks and software (e.g. Hadoop, R, etc.)
  • Experience in complex organizational-wide problem solving, analyzing and synthesizing disparate sources of data, and developing actionable end-to-end analytic solutions with an eye towards usability/how the approach would be implemented to solve for high value business problems
  • Experience in working within a team environment and using innovative approaches to solve challenging business problems through the integration of varied data sources
  • Demonstrated proficiency in matrix management; ability to lead cross-functional teams to deliver actionable results balancing business unit/organizational differences and enterprise solutions within constraints of demanding deadlines; disciplined project management and a balance of creative problem solving with standard operating procedure development
  • Results oriented and deadline driven invoking a sense of urgency among his or her team to drive the business forward with analytic recommendations - ensures attention to detail, data and analytic accuracy, quality of output, and effective communication materials/analytic visualization aids
  • Consulting experience preferred; proven ability to interpret customer needs and develop appropriate solutions; negotiation and influence skills required
  • Ability to effectively build relationships across teams
  • Adept story telling skills; very strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective at presenting complex, technical information, concepts, and analysis in a compelling and persuasive manner to non-technical audiences
