Senior Data Architect – Consumer Insights Netflix -
Los Gatos, CA
We are looking for a talented data architect to work with our growing Consumer Insights group whose mission is to help Netflix better understand its customers and potential new members. You will work directly with Consumer Insights managers and directors to deliver key insights that address the current competitive and consumer issues facing the company. This is done mostly through market research, customer research, and customer surveys.
Example Scenarios: How effective was advertising in certain markets to drive signups? Why are some members not updating to the most current version of our app? What is the most common reason people are cancelling in Latin-America?
Our Team: DSE Customer Acquisition and Messaging team’s (~5 people) overall mission is to use data and analytics to:
Signup more customers,
Discover how to make our website easier to use when new customers sign up,
Direct messages and surveys to the right customers/members.
We are looking for you to:
Build and instrument new survey reporting platform, including reports and dashboards, and data model using our Amazon S3 Hadoop cluster and our Teradata Data warehouse with MicroStrategy reporting platform.
Use SQL to effectively build customer segments for our team to send surveys to. These will be quite complex.
The ideal candidate is someone who:
Has a passion for anything data...and loves to find the hidden truths in data
Has built a successful enterprise data model for a subject area
Great appetite to learn new things and, in general, is intellectually curious
Is expert with SQL
Has deep experience with at least one reporting tool
Speaks well and has the ability to tell a clear story with data.
Nice to have:
Market research domain knowledge and survey experience
Cloud ETL experience (Hive, Pig, Python)
Scripting language experience (Python, Perl, Ruby, etc.)
Familiarity with modern web frameworks
