Under general direction, designs, implements and maintains complex databases with respect to JCL, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation and statistical methods.
Includes overall monitoring of standards and procedures and integration of systems through database design.
May include maintenance of database dictionaries.
Competent to work at the highest level of all phases of database management.
Converts logical design into a physical database.
May create schemas and sub schemas in consultation with application project teams necessary to implement database design.
Develops transaction logging, back-up and security features.
Analyzes and changes performance of database as necessary.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years related experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
