The Senior Conceptual Designer is responsible for creating 3D models in support of solving engineering problems, development of new designs, and the creation of complex CAD models and engineering drawings. In this role the selected candidate will be working with design, principal, and Chief engineers and will be expected to analyze and interpret design requirements to develop appropriate models and drawings.

Essential Responsibilities
In addition, in this role you will:
  • Analyze, interpret, and establish design requirements based on engineering instructions and available technical data
  • Advance engineering concepts and basic technical requirements into functional product definition designs
  • Visualize, conceive, and provide configurations for solutions of design problems
  • Conceptualize designs with various levels of input details
  • Determine dimensional constraints and geometric tolerances required for proper clearances and fits while maximizing manufacturing capabilities and service maintainability
  • Ensure all interface characteristics between components are established and agreed upon by the designers of mating parts/assemblies
  • Effectively collaborate between multi-discipline engineering organizations to assure design compatibility and manufacturability
  • Create definitions of parts, modules, and assemblies in the form of 3D parametric models, tolerance stack-ups, and various electronic data formats to support analysis, manufacturing, assembly, and tooling
  • Apply Power Generation Engineering Product Definition Procedures and Industry Standards, Company Drafting Practices and Procedures, and promote the standardization of parts
  • Plan and produce work to ensure completion of scheduled tasks on time to support the development, testing, and manufacturing of Aeroderivative equipment to the requirements of project definition

    Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, Physics, or Mathematics from an accredited institution OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 12 years of product design experience
  • Minimum 10 years of design and drafting experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with Unigraphics

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications

    Desired Characteristics
  • Minimum 15 years of design and drafting experience
  • Possess working knowledge of drafting practices, manufacturing methods, shop tolerances, engineering, and manufacturing standards with little supervision from an engineer
  • Possess sheet metal, structural, and piping design experience to facilitate complete system / package concepts
  • Extensive knowledge and application of MbM/PMI
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong focus on quality and customer responsiveness
  • Solid process discipline and analytical skills
  • Extensive familiarity with ASME drafting standards
  • Working knowledge of turbine-generator mechanical systems
