Duties And Responsibilities

& Minimum Requirements:
The Senior Director of Development, Southeast, serves as the point person for all development activity in key designated regions for Georgetown’s campaign. This position exists to drive fundraising activity in one of Georgetown’s regional markets ensuring strong pipeline development from discovery to solicitation to gift closing to collaboration with the appropriate constituent-based or principal gift officer, as appropriate The Senior Director is responsible for soliciting gifts ranging from $25,000 to $ 1 million + for fund-raising needs university-wide, with a focus on gifts at the $100,000 + range.

This position will institute personal visit strategy designed to reach unmanaged prospects within the major gift portion of the gift pyramid. The Regional Director has a goal of 150-200 personal solicitation visits per year to promote campaign priorities, gift clubs, and Reunion, with the ultimate goal of securing the largest gifts for Georgetown. This position will coordinate the development of regional campaigns in assigned regions as the university campaign commences. As Georgetown’s lead officer in the region, the position is responsible for communicating the key messages and priorities while coordinating activity with leading academic figures from Georgetown. S/he will also assist in developing the communication, event, and stewardship strategies in the region. The position will ensure the solicitation of qualified prospect leads developed by the Discovery Initiative, as well as the coordination of major gift prospects to the appropriate constituent area within Advancement, allowing for the proper flow of prospects from discovery to solicitation to gift closing. The position will also have the special responsibility of coordinating strategies with major gift prospects with multiple interests. Candidate must possess a BA/BS, with a minimum 7-10 years fundraising or closely affiliated experience (preferably in a higher education setting). Personal solicitation experience, excellent written/oral communication skills, organization, and the ability/willingness to work as an integral part of a team are essential. Knowledge of Microsoft office applications critical.
