HOK Texas has a Senior Electrical Engineer position open in our Houston office. This person will be an independent contributor and will be responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating engineering project teams and team assignments to complete architectural projects. The ideal candidate will utilize creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment to meet project requirements and objectives.

Assume a project leadership role in design of electrical systems on one or multiple (could be simultaneous) projects, including necessary calculations, drawings and specifications.
Initiate and maintain contact with other discipline project individuals for clarification, coordination and negotiation of critical issues.
Write job specifications and feasibility studies for engineering portion of the project.
Attend project team meetings.
Prepare project specific design work plans.
Manage team for overall adherence to design intent and carry through. Reviews documents for technical quality and adherence to building and engineering codes.
Monitor and manage assigned staff to achieve Project profitability goals.
Conduct QA/QC reviews.
Supervise assigned discipline staff including other Engineers and Designers assigned to a project.
Keep project specific discipline design on schedule and within budget.
Maintain contact with Client, Contractor and other Project team members.
Offer Construction Administration services related to discipline scope of work.
Provide project specific marketing efforts.
Minimum of ten years of electrical engineering design experience in commercial building sector (specialized experience in laboratory, healthcare and other technically sophisticated project types preferred) .
Prior management experience leading engineering project team.
BS degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering (depending on discipline need) from an accredited U.S. university.
Professional Engineer (PE) required (with ability to get registered in others states).
LEED accreditation preferred (required within 6 months of employment).
Full knowledge of engineering principles/practices.
Fluent with software used by HOK in execution of Projects including Revit.
Familiar with energy modeling software. Required to use Trane Trace or VisualDOE.
Familiar with life cycle cost analyses. Required to use latest version of Building Life Cycle Costs (BLCC).
