Possessing advanced and/or specialized skills, acts with minimal direction from manager and architects, exercises judgment within defined principles and practices to design and deliver business solutions. Precedent setting decisions subject to review and approval by Architects/Management.

Job Responsibilities

Provides timely, detailed and effective written and verbal communication on the status of design activities, risks and complex process administration.

Amount of specialized knowledge, experience and confidence enables the ability to coach/train team members.

Aids and may collaborate in the thought process of decision makers with validated observations, analysis and recommendations.

Analyzes and/or organizes complex information with broad direction. Identifies trends. Actively seeks the input and opinions of stakeholders; explores and compares a wide range of options before acting; decisions are sound, timely, attentive to details and recognize constraints and resources available.

As a subject matter expert, develops and presents recommendations from accurate assessments and/or analysis. Offers solutions and designs to solve process, project or program issues; provides recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness. Defends a recommendation and can confidently support it.

Independently possesses the ability to diagnose complex situations into manageable parts.

Works collaboratively with stakeholders to understand constraints and expectations.

Position Responsibilities

40%: Based on background and experience, acts as technical lead on one or more moderate to complex projects. Designing solutions and related technical specifications according to requirements, then develops, tests and deploys solutions accordingly.

20%: Leads enhancement and maintenance activities on existing solutions.

20%: Assists Engineering Consultants in the development of design patterns and unit test approaches to be applied in area(s) of expertise. Also establishes, documents and promotes engineering best practices/standards in area(s) of expertise.

10%: In concert with architects, proves out emerging architectures via Proofs of Concept.

10%: Leads other engineers on project and maintenance activities.

Minimum Requirements

Education - Bachelor’s degree in business or relevant IS fields or equivalent retail or IS experience.

Experience -- 8 or more years experience in IS working in an advanced software engineering role.

Communications - Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate with multiple levels of the organization (business and IT), including up to VP level. In addition, must possess the ability to deliver effective technical presentations.

Process - Expert with the SDLC and multiple development methodologies.

Business - Strong customer focus with a passion for quality.

Leadership/Teamwork - Ability to lead technical teams. Ability to provide strategic direction and tactical execution. Ability to providing a thinking and contributing role for organizational change. Ability to work flexible hours as required to meet business demands.

Skills - Proficient with complex technical design. Expert knowledge of a single technical disciplines, knowledge or proficiency in other disciplines.
